Majestic Kitchen and Bath Creations Team Unites to Battle COVID-19 Issues
Amid the COVID-19 virus pandemic, Majestic Kitchen & Bath Creations in Raleigh, North Carolina assembled a company-wide health safety team from all locations, called Safety Czars, and these employees are tasked with ensuring that CDC guidelines are followed at their locations, constantly educating about safe hygiene practices and ensuring adequate supplies are in place such as gloves and disinfectant. The team is working hard to mitigate the risks and any disruption to operations.
“Of course we have cleaning crews in most of our buildings, but our Safety Czars are going behind them to be vigilant regarding everything from keyboards to microwaves, to make sure nothing is missed,” said Scott Byers, President & CEO, Majestic Kitchen & Bath Creations.
A large portion of Majestic’s business is new home construction, so there is ostensibly less risk. As far as working within occupied homes, they are increasing communications and asking questions to ensure all parties feel safe.
“Majestic is taking care of our team, but being smart about interactions,” said Byers. “There is a general understanding of expectations for both our staff and homeowners, keeping the lines of communication open. We are taking extra precautions on our end, to find out if anyone in the house is sick or has unique health conditions, has traveled outside of the US, or is elderly. If everyone is comfortable, we move forward with our job. Sometimes we don’t. One of our installers recently left a job because someone in the house was coughing and he was not comfortable with that situation.”

Currently, in-person client meetings are suspended, and Majestic back-office personnel are working remotely to align with the protocols put forth by health officials, and only coming by the office for vital papers or functions.
“This situation is really getting people to think and assess what is critical and what isn’t,” added Byers.
In March, the company temporarily closed its retail locations across the Carolinas, and delayed many occupied home installations and warranty services for the time being. Majestic Kitchen & Bath Creations manufacturing sites are operating as normal, utilizing heightened hygiene practices with minimal service impacts.
The closing of daycares and schools has affected the business as well.
“Our team is discussing the possibility of employee families and volunteers helping with childcare, possibly in Majestic retail locations if someone needs temporary child care,” said Byers.
“We have a lot of good people who are trying to address things that we never imagined,” said Byers. “It’s not perfect, sometimes people interpret communications through their own lens, but we are working as a team.”
“When we put this team together, I went around the room asking my Safety Czars their fear level from 1-10,” explained Byers. “Some were low and some were at a very high level of fear. There were team members dealing with children and family members that had autoimmune deficiency and other medical issues. To these people, this is not just a flu. Everyone realized this pandemic wasn’t about them. It was something more. That moment helped changed people’s perception and brought to the forefront our diverse thoughts and fears. The more we understand that, the more we work as a team, through all challenges.”
The company is holding regular phone meetings with the Safety Czars, and every other day with division managers. They are aware that things are changing fast and over-communication is key.

To date, besides the impacts noted above, the company has experienced little to no disruption in its business or supply chain. However, CEO Byers realizes that change is imminent, so under his direction they will be reaching out and communicating constantly as they monitor the progress of the coronavirus and its impact on business in the Carolinas and globally.
